Hurricane Dorian made her way to the States, but not before completely ravaging the Bahamas. Dorian hit the Bahamas as a Category 5 hurricane, damaging 60 percent of the homes in Marsh Harbour, leaving behind a death toll of 20 and 70,000 people in need of lifesaving help.
When a disaster like this strikes, we oftentimes feel helpless. However, there are several ways that your nonprofit or business can help the Bahamians recover. Below are organizations that are accepting donations of money and/or supplies to help those affected by Dorian get back on their feet:
- The Bahamas Disaster Relief Fund: Set up by the Bahamian government, this fund is accepting wire transfers.
- The American Red Cross
- The Salvation Army
- Mercy Corps
- YachtAid Global
- Global Giving
- World Central Kitchen
- The National Association of the Bahamas
